Volunteer
A grassroots project like Company Shops Market depends on a
committed base of volunteers to make it all happen. Help is
needed with everything from organizing events, staffing
informational tables, to ultimately helping stock the shelves
for the first time and beyond. Company Shops Market will have a
full paid staff but will always have volunteer options available
for those that would like a more involved role with their Co-op!

Thank You
Novemberfest Volunteers!
Company Shops
Market throws a huge Local Foods party.
We couldn't have done it without you! With over 500 attendees, it
was literally and figuratively a huge success. As you can probably
guess, it takes quite a bit of work to pull off an event of this
size and scope. Luckily we had a lot of help. As board president
Sharon Dent likes to say, "it takes a village."

The October 2009 Work Party Weekend
was a great success!
Company
Shops Market held a volunteer work party weekend on Oct 15th - 17th,
2009. We accomplished a lot this weekend. We tore down the
'managers' office on the back right side of the main room. Steps
were taken to salvage the windows, door, paneling and lumber for use
in future projects. We removed the old soiled carpet from the
downstairs office areas. We also took down the unwanted office
partitions in the upstairs area, opening up the space. We especially want to recognize the volunteers
who gave up valuable weekend time to help us. Thank You!

Sarah Cook
- webmaster
Sarah
and her Husband Nate Perry moved to Graham, NC in the summer of
2004 after living in the Atlanta metro area for several years.
"Lured by Weaver Street Market and the small town community feel, we
initially started looking for a place in Carrboro. When we had
little luck finding the right house in our preferred price range, our
Realtor suggested taking a look at Graham. And I'm so glad we did!
We love the community but really miss having a local co-op grocery
store nearby."
In May of 2006 Sarah met founding board member, Eric Henry, at the
Haw River Festival. "I was thrilled to find a growing group of
people and businesses in Alamance County who are interested in
building local community, supporting local agriculture and local
economy, promoting sustainability and who see the merits of
environmental and social responsibility. I was very excited when
Eric told me about the plan for Company Shops Market and asked if I
would be interested in volunteering website design services."
Sarah is the owner of
Think Web Solutions, a local website
development company. |

Frances Moore---bookkeeper
"When I lived in Chapel
Hill I enjoyed the option of having fresh organic foods available
and a strong local community. I am looking forward to local
gatherings at the new Company Shops Marketplace and am happy to play
a part in the success of a new grocery store with local foods and
folks. It is a great opportunity for me to use my accounting
experience as a volunteer to benefit the Coop. The people that are
working hard behind the scenes to make the Coop happen are great to
work with." |

Wayne White
- event assistance
Wayne is a relatively
new resident of Burlington, having lived in Greensboro from
1975-2005. He has been active in the Greensboro community, while
living in Fisher Park, which is a center-city neighborhood. His
activities included serving as Chairman of the Historic District
Commission and President of Preservation Greensboro, Inc. Wayne also
was the co-founder of Architectural Salvage of Greensboro, one of
the longest-running all-volunteer salvage operations in the country,
that subsidizes preservation projects in the community. Wayne's
civic activities have always centered on hands-on active
participation in large fund-raising projects and labor-intensive
volunteer projects, and his skills in organization and motivating
volunteers will come in handy in the formation of Company Shops
Market, and he's excited that the community has indicated such a
strong initial interest in the concept of Company Shops Market. |
