Blogs is Back, Blog Contributers Wanted, Communication Frequency Survey

A Quick Message from Sarah & Nate:

The Blog is back online! Going forward this will be a central repository of information about what is currently happening at Company Shops Market. By visiting the blog you can see the growth as it has happened, comment on things you read there, and really dig into what all the excitement is about!

By the way, we are looking for some fresh voices to contribute to the blog. If you’re a co-op member and are interested in writing about co-op events, food and farm issues, local economy or other topics that directly relate to Company Shop’s mission and would be of interest to the co-op owners, we want to hear from you.

We are going to be stepping up the flow of information out from the coop through the Blog, Twitter and Facebook. But we would like to know, how often would you like to hear from us? A few times a week? A few times a month? Please leave your comments here on the blog and we will take them under consideration.

Thanks, I love the updates. I’ve had the market blog in my RSS reader forever and it is good to finally get some traffic there.

I’d like to hear news weekly or a few times a week. I especially like the reminders of events. Maybe someone could make a Google Calendar that we Google users could subscribe to (and you could just provide the link to the calendar on this blog for non-Google calendar users to view the calendar).

Hi Megan, Thanks for the feedback. It really is appreciated. I will check into the feasibility of the google calendar and will be sure to let you know if we implement it. – Sarah Cook

We received the following email response:

“Please- not a couple of times a week. How about 2 or 3 times a month. And just plain old e-mail will do. I don’t twitter, I don’t blog and I don’t want to do facebook. My life is full enough without all that. Plain old e-mail, and only what’s important – not just a lot a gab to fill up space.”

Participation on twitter and facebook are of course 100% optional. We plan to send out email updates no more than once a week. So that is probably the perfect way for you to get your information about the coop.

In regard to the blog, you might surprise yourself and find it interesting. And while you are not a blogger, you might be a blog reader and not even know it. There is a common mystery around the term blog. A blog is just a website. But it is a special kind of website created by a person or group who is passionate about a subject and wants to tell the world about it. Entries typically appear in reverse chronological order so you always see the latest information right on top. The website allows users to reflect, share opinions, and discuss various topics in the form of an online journal while readers may comment on posts.

The great thing is, you can visit the blog only when you are interested in reading about whats going on at the coop. That might be never. Or it might be once a quarter, once a month, once a week. It completely up to you.

We very much appreciate your taking the time to give us feedback on how you want to receive information from us.
