Tuesday Night: Wellness Hour
Tuesday, Oct 11th from 5:30pm – 6:30pm.
New! Wellness expert Donald Jernigan will be hosting “Wellness Hour” on Tuesdays nights at 5:30pm. Each week he will choose a topic of interest and share his wellness knowledge with you. On, Tuesday, October 11th, he will be talking about cleansing products. If you have any particular wellness and supplement questions, to make sure you stop by and ask him. He can be found in the wellness aisle most days.

Thursday nights are all about cheese. Resident cheese expert Jonathan Whitlatch will be offering samples and insight into the different varieties offered in our cheese department. Jonathan is freshly returned from training at the famous Murray Cheese Shop in New York. If you’ve got cheese questions, he’s got answers.

Friday Night: Live Music + Wine Tasting
Live Music: 6-8pm Tim Stambaugh
Wine Tasting: 5:30-7:30pm. We will be sampling a few of the wines from our Wine Sale lineup.

Saturday: Wine Show
Saturday, Oct 15th from 2pm – 5pm.
Wine is a great conversation starter, so Company Shops Market will be a chatty place this October. We are holding our first annual Fall Wine Show on October 15th from 1-5 pm. For $5, you will have the opportunity to participate in the wine tasting and then buy your favorite wines on sale at discounts of up to 50% off. Ticket holders will receive a commemorative Company Shops Market Wine Show tasting glass and be able to sample 19 different wines, including classics like Merlot, Chardonnay, Malbec, Pinor Noir, and Reisling. The event will also feature live music and gourmet snacks.

Saturday: Christmas Float Building Workshop
Friday, Oct 8th from 26pm – 5pm.
We are looking for an energetic group of Company Shops Market Fans who are interested in working together to create our parade float. The float, which will feature paper mache fruit and a vegetables, will makes its debut at the Burlington Christmas Parade November 17, 2011.  This is the perfect opportunity to be creative, get crafty and make new friendships in the community. Kids and adults welcome.

A big thank you as well to our Cummings High School National Honor Society volunteers: Briana Pascual Mejia, Taylor Stephens, Jessica Vertiz Rodriguez, and Josue Martinez. They tore many paper strips; completed the first layer of paper on the huge carrot, celery, cabbage, banana and bell pepper; snacked on our yummy pimento cheese spread and chips; and restored our patio to order at the end of the day.

The float, which will feature paper mache fruit and a vegetables, will makes its debut at the Burlington Christmas Parade November 17. Workshops to finish the float will be held on Saturdays thru November 5 from 2pm to 5pm, with the exception of October 15th (the day of or huge Wine Show and Sale).

Just 4 more workshops to go! 2-5pm on October 8th, 22nd, 29th, and November 5th. We hope you’ll join us for a good time.

Beer Tasting: Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery 5:30-7:30pm

“We are a small packaging microbrewery located in Farmville, North Carolina. We sold our first beer in August of 2004. We specialize in beautiful, delicious, full flavored dark beers. When we brew, we’re happy and we dance. During fermentation, we sing softly to the yeast. Please try our beer and enjoy a taste of contentment!”

The orange and apple fruit armatures were delivered this afternoon by Sarah Costello and Sophia Martinez Moore, the ladies of Prop Tarts, an Alamance county-based prop rental company. These chicken wire and wood creations formed the base for our paper mache fruit.

Approximately 20 folks showed up to help, including Candace Gabriel of Burlington and her children, Aaron, Jadon and Abi who happily paper mache’d balloons aka grapes. Sophia and Logan Dill of Glencoe tackled the an over-sized carrot… or was it asparagus .. or celery? Keeyatta Russell, Apparchia Parker, and Kierra Wiley from the Cummings High School National Honor Society, along with their advisor Ann Scott, lent their hands. Several shoppers also stopped in for some spontaneous 3-D art-making.

About the time we were winding up, the folks from High Rock Farm of Gibsonville, who were here for our Music Festival, sent over some yummy gluten-free cupcakes made with their chestnut flour. They were quickly gobbled up by the hungry artists at work.
